After damage and fires during the recent Gen Z protests, the five-star Hyatt hotel in Kathmandu has been closed indefinitely. The hotel management announced that no staff would be allowed to enter until further notice, prompting concern from Prime Minister Sushila Karki and Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal.

Government Shows Concern

Following the closure, Finance Minister Khanal spoke with the hotel management to understand the situation. During the conversation, he assured them that the government is ready to provide full security and urged the hotel to resume services without hesitation.

He said, “Don’t panic. Continue your services with confidence. We are with you. Security arrangements will be taken care of. Keep your business running without disruption.”

The government plans to meet with the hotel management again on Sunday to discuss further actions. Hyatt Regency, known for putting Nepal’s hospitality sector on the international map, is expected to reopen soon, a hope shared by both the authorities and the public.
