Potato prices in local markets are going up. According to the price list released by the Kalimati Fruit and Vegetable Market Development Committee on Monday, both red and white potatoes have become more expensive.
In the market, you can buy two types of potatoes: red and white. Some red potatoes are imported from India.
Today, Monday, red potatoes in Kalimati are being sold wholesale for a minimum of 68 rupees per kilogram and a maximum of 70 rupees, with an average price of 69 rupees. Yesterday, Sunday, the price ranged from 67 to 70 rupees.
Indian red potatoes have also risen. On Sunday, they sold wholesale for 34 to 36 rupees per kilogram, with an average of 35 rupees. Today, the price ranges from 36 to 38 rupees.
White potatoes are not left behind. Their wholesale price today is 57 to 60 rupees per kilogram, with an average of 58 rupees. Yesterday, they sold for 55 to 58 rupees.
Over the past month, potato prices have jumped 35%. Red potatoes have increased by 18 rupees per kilogram in just one month. On October 27, the average price of red potatoes reached 69 rupees, up from 51 rupees on September 26.
White potatoes have also seen a sharp rise, with their price increasing by 19 rupees per kilogram in the same period.
