The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) saw a positive movement today, with the index climbing by 16.65 points to close at 2,875.55. That’s a 0.58% increase compared to the previous trading day. However, despite the index moving up, the overall trading volume dropped. While the market showed overall improvement, not all sectors followed the trend. Development banks, finance companies, hotels and tourism, manufacturing, non-life insurance, and the ‘Others’ group ended in red. The remaining sectors, however, saw gains. A total of 325 companies were traded today, with more than 27.1 million shares changing hands. The total turnover amounted to Rs. 10.92 billion. Sikles Hydropower stood out as the top performer of the day, with its stock price rising by 5.73%. Investors in this company saw the highest return. On the other hand, Trade Tower Limited saw its stock price hit a 10% loss, triggering a negative circuit for the first time. This means investors in the company faced a significant drop today. Himalayan Reinsurance recorded the highest individual trading volume, with transactions worth over Rs. 559.6 million. On Sunday, the first trading day of the week, NEPSE had dropped by 63.73 points. That day’s total turnover was just Rs. 3.07 billion — much lower than today’s, showing a bounce back in market activity, even if the overall trading amount slightly shrank.
