The Chairman Position at the Nepal Insurance Authority was empty after the recent removal of its former chairperson. On Bhadra 2, the cabinet dismissed Sharad Ojha, saying he did not meet the required experience criteria. Since then, joint secretary Sewantak Pokharel has been serving as the acting chairperson.
Now, 14 people have applied for the role. According to the Ministry of Finance, the recommendation committee has reviewed all applications and published the list of candidates.
The names on the list are:

- Chiranjivi Pandey (Kathmandu)
- Paras Karki (Bhaktapur)
- Vishnubabu Mishra (Kathmandu)
- Buddhekaji Shrestha (Kathmandu)
- Dr. Damodar Basnet (Kaski)
- Chiranjivi Shivakoti (Kathmandu)
- Gyanendra Adhikari (Jhapa)
- Devkumar Karna (Morang)
- Prof. Dr. Deepak Bahadur Bhandari (Lamjung)
- Dr. Gangadhar Dhakal (Kathmandu)
- Ramkrishna Nyaupane (Dang)
- Ramesh Kumar Bhandari (Kathmandu)
- Mahendra Nyaupane (Bhaktapur)
The committee will now ask each candidate to present their work plan and attend an interview. Based on their performance, the top three names will be sent to the cabinet. The cabinet will then appoint one of them as the new chairperson.
