The insurance claims from damages caused during the recent Gen Z protests have now reached Rs 22.25 billion.
Bagmati leads in claims
According to the Nepal Insurance Authority, Bagmati Province has the highest claims, totaling Rs 17.97 billion across 1,343 applications. Overall, 18 insurance companies, including micro-insurance providers, have received 2,478 claim applications.
Types of damages
The claims mostly relate to private property damaged by fire and vandalism during protests on September 8–9 (Bhadra 23–24). So far, the largest single claims came from Oriental Insurance, with Rs 5.22 billion, and Siddhartha Insurance, with Rs 5.08 billion.
