In recent weeks, Nepal faced protests and vandalism on Bhadra 23 and 24. These events caused heavy losses to both public and private property, leaving many people struggling with damage and financial stress.
To address this situation, the Nepal Insurance Authority has directed insurance companies to settle claims quickly and make the process easier for policyholders.
According to director Kundan Sapkota, the authority has asked non-life insurance companies to focus on resolving claims without delay. The goal is to provide relief to those whose homes, businesses, and assets were affected by the unrest. The authority has also instructed companies to submit weekly reports on claim payments. This will help monitor how much compensation has been provided and ensure transparency in the process.
By speeding up insurance settlements, the authority hopes to support people in recovering from the losses caused by the protests.
