The secretariat of Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has denied claims circulating on social media that two trucks carrying two crore rupees left his residence before the recent Gen Z protests. The secretariat has called the allegations false and demanded proof from those spreading them.

A video shared online claimed that a large amount of money was taken from Prachanda’s house just before the Gen Z movement on Bhadra 23 and 24. The posts also alleged that his security guards were being used as domestic helpers and that eight guards were deployed at the home of his daughter, Ganga Dahal.

In response, Prachanda’s secretariat issued a statement through Govinda Acharya on Sunday. The statement said all the allegations were baseless, sponsored, and intended to damage Prachanda’s reputation. It also challenged those making the claims to present evidence supporting their accusations.

The secretariat said that spreading false and misleading information in the name of freedom of expression is unacceptable. It warned that defaming others and sharing misinformation is not protected under the law.

The statement further criticized some media outlets for not verifying facts, sources, and the views of concerned parties before publishing such reports. It said that ensuring truth and fairness is a basic duty of journalists.

The secretariat also raised concern over the misuse of digital platforms to spread misinformation and requested that authorities investigate and take legal action against those responsible.

It concluded by warning that if such false and harmful content is published or shared again, the responsibility will rest entirely on the publishers and distributors.
