The hyatt hotel in boudha will stay closed for at least one year after the gen z protest caused heavy damage inside the property. The protest led to vandalism, fire, and looting, forcing the hotel to stop its operations.

The hotel management held several discussions with employee representatives and both sides reached an agreement. The hotel will pay all workers the minimum basic salary set by the nepal government during the entire reconstruction period. The hotel will also continue contributing to the social security fund. Management says this will help protect the workers’ income and job security while the hotel remains closed.

The hotel says the damage is so severe that it cannot start operating until full repairs are completed. It expects the reconstruction work to take about one year.

After the repairs are finished, the employees who accept the agreement will be brought back to work. Most workers have responded positively to the plan. However, the hotel says workers who do not agree to the terms may face job cuts.
