Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal is traveling to Washington, D.C., to attend the joint annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The meetings are set to take place from Monday, October 13, to Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the headquarters of the IMF and World Bank Group in Washington, D.C., United States. These meetings are one of the most important events in the global financial calendar and bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, and economic experts from over 190 countries.

The meetings provide a platform to discuss global economic issues, share ideas, and plan strategies for development. Nepal’s participation shows its commitment to international economic cooperation and offers opportunities to strengthen relationships with other countries and institutions.

Before leaving, Minister Khanal held discussions with key international partners, including the U.S. ambassador to Nepal, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) country director, and the IMF mission chief. They talked about Nepal’s economic stability, ongoing development projects, governance, and job creation.

Experts say the minister’s involvement in these meetings could help attract investment and support Nepal’s economic growth. It also gives the country a chance to share its plans and challenges with global financial leaders.
