Nepal has officially stepped into election mode. The Election Commission has released the full timetable for both direct and proportional voting, confirming that the country will head to the polls on Falgun 21.

The Commission has set Magh 6 as the day when candidates for the direct (first-past-the-post) seats can file their nominations. Offices will remain open from morning to evening for this process.

Magh 6

• Candidate registration from 10 am to 5 pm
• Preliminary name list published between 5 pm and 7 pm

Magh 7

• Complaints accepted from 10 am to 3 pm
• Verification continues until Magh 8 evening
• Final list for this stage published at 7 pm

Magh 9

• Candidates can withdraw their names between 10 am and 1 pm
• Final name list released between 1 pm and 3 pm
• Election symbols distributed from 4 pm to 7 pm

The proportional voting process begins earlier. Political parties will start their paperwork from Mangsir 20, followed by a three-day window to submit required documents. Names and lists will go through several rounds of publication, with the final closed list scheduled for release on Magh 20.

Nepali citizens will cast their votes on Falgun 21. Polling stations will be open from 7 am to 5 pm.

According to spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the Commission finalized and released all these schedules on Sunday.
