On the fourth trading day of the week, the stock market saw a double-digit drop. The NEPSE index fell by 15.64 points, closing at 2,726.33. A total of 11.34 million shares of 326 listed companies were traded, with a turnover of more than Rs. 4.72 billion.
Both insurance sub-indices ended in the red. The Life Insurance Index fell by 0.56%, while the Non-Life Insurance Index dropped by 0.39%. Out of all insurance companies, only six posted gains today. United Ajod Insurance was the top gainer, rising 0.99% to close at Rs. 523.50. Other gainers included NLG Insurance (0.10%), RBCL (0.34%), Siddhartha Premier (0.10%), Asian Life (0.02%), and IME Life (0.03%).
On the losing side, Nepal Micro Insurance recorded the biggest drop of the day, falling 2.95% to Rs. 1,300.85. Other major losers were Himalayan Everest (0.25%), IGI Prudential (0.23%), Nepal Insurance (0.63%), Neco Insurance (0.97%), Prabhu Insurance (1.15%), Sagarmatha Lumbini (Salico) (0.72%), Sanima GIC (1.70%), and Shikhar Insurance (0.57%).
Similarly, life insurers including Citizen Life (-0.32%), Crest Micro Life (-0.90%), Guardian Micro Life (-0.75%), Himalayan Life (-0.79%), LIC Nepal (-1.00%), Nepal Life (-0.37%), National Life (-0.56%), Prabhu Mahalaxmi Life (-0.66%), Reliable Nepal Life (-0.63%), Surya Jyoti Life (-0.47%), and Sun Nepal Life (-1.03%) also declined.
In the reinsurance segment, Himalayan Re dropped 0.64% to Rs. 993.13, while Nepal Re slipped 0.11% to Rs. 1,663.88.
