The Nepal stock market rose by 62.29 points on Tuesday, bringing the NEPSE index to 2,571 points.
Although the market started the day in the red, it quickly turned green within 10 minutes and stayed positive throughout the day. Trading volume also increased significantly. On Sunday, total trading was NPR 279 crore, but today it jumped to NPR 457 crore. Out of 250 companies traded, 236 saw their prices rise, 12 fell, and 2 remained unchanged.
The development bank sector saw the highest growth of 4.47%. Other sectors performed well too: banking rose 1.92%, finance 3.14%, hotel and tourism 2.80%, hydropower 3.90%, investment 3.19%, life insurance 3.55%, manufacturing 0.37%, microfinance 2.59%, non-life insurance 2.54%, and other sectors 1.91%.
Three companies recorded a 10% gain today. These were Nyadi Hydropower, Butwal Power, and Axel Development Bank. Other notable gainers included Radhi Hydropower (9.60%), Lumbini Development Bank (9.35%), Singati Hydro Energy (8.21%), and First Microfinance (8.12%).
On the downside, Himalayan Power Partner’s shares fell the most, dropping 6.36%. Unilever’s price fell 3.88%, and Bottlers Nepal Balaju dropped 3.77%.
Companies with the highest trading activity today included Himalayan Power Partner, Union Hydropower, Radhi Hydropower, Butwal Power, and NRN Infrastructure.
