Insurance companies have paid out claims worth around NRs 4.5 arba for losses caused during the Gen Z protest, according to data available till mid-Mangsir.
The total insurance claims filed for damage linked to the protest stand at about NRs 23.4 arba. This means less than one-fifth of the claimed amount has been settled so far, while a large portion of cases are still under review or in the process of assessment.
Insurers say the delay is mainly due to verification procedures, damage assessment, and documentation requirements, especially for large claims involving property and business losses. Many affected individuals and businesses are still waiting for final decisions on their claims.
The gap between claims filed and payouts has raised concerns among policyholders, who are urging insurance companies to speed up the settlement process as financial pressure continues to mount after the protest-related damage.
