Nepal may soon see electric trolley buses running on its busiest roads. Energy and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising has put forward a plan to make public transport cleaner, quieter, and more organized.

Ghising shared this plan during discussions with the Asian Development Bank. He asked the ADB team to support Nepal in bringing electric trolley buses into daily use.

According to an official who attended the meeting, the proposal is part of the Sustainable Urban Electric Project. Under this plan, Nepal aims to bring 250 large electric buses into service for public transport.

The project includes building charging stations, maintenance centers, and other infrastructure needed to run electric transport smoothly. A feasibility study is already underway.

The full project is expected to cost around 160 million US dollars, which is roughly 22.56 billion Nepali rupees.
