Nepal imported petroleum products worth Rs 4.48 billion from the eastern border at Kakarbhitta in the first three months of the current fiscal year 2082/083. The imports included petrol, diesel, LPG, ATF, and kerosene.

According to Ishwar Kumar Humagai, spokesperson and customs officer at Mechi Customs Office, this is an increase of Rs 5.90 million, compared to the same period last year. That’s a 1.3% increase. Revenue from petroleum imports also grew by 3.2 percent, adding Rs 3.89 million to government funds.

  • Petrol: 26,320 kiloliters worth Rs 2.32 billion

  • Kerosene: 420 kiloliters worth Rs 37.9 million

These figures show that fuel imports are increasing steadily and contributing more revenue to the government.
