Nepal’s stock market NEPSE closed slightly higher on Wednesday, recovering marginally after a sharp drop the previous day. The NEPSE index gained 2.35 points, closing at 2,836.35.

Despite the uptick in the index, the overall trading volume declined. While turnover had crossed Rs 9 billion the previous day, today’s total transaction value dropped to just over Rs 7.63 billion.

Market Highlights

  • Total companies traded: 320
  • Total shares traded: Over 21.6 million
  • Number of transactions: 93,185
  • Total turnover: Rs 7.63 billion

Market Performance

  • Companies with price gains: 112
  • Companies with price losses: 138
  • Sub-indices that declined: 8 out of 13
  • Sub-indices that gained: 5
  • Sensitive Index (Class A companies): Down 0.31 points to 488.13

On a day when the market index showed a modest rise, the drop in turnover indicates cautious investor sentiment. Notably, three companies hit the positive circuit limit, signaling strong demand for their shares.

Although the broader market remained mixed, with more companies losing value than gaining, the green close suggests some stability returning to the market after recent volatility.
