The stock market index NEPSE went up by 6.74 points on Monday. With this rise, the index closed at 2,601 points. However, the total trading amount fell. While trading was worth Rs 4 billion on the previous day, it dropped to Rs 3.44 billion today.
Share prices of 155 companies increased, while 94 companies saw a fall. Prices of 10 companies remained unchanged. The banking sector played a major role in pushing the market up. Still, the movement in all sector indices stayed below 1%.

The banking index rose by 0.72%. Development banks gained 0.33%, finance companies went up by 0.90%, hydropower increased by 0.06%, life insurance rose by 0.30%, manufacturing and processing climbed by 0.57%, non-life insurance increased by 0.07%, and the trading sector gained 0.27%.
On the downside, the hotel and tourism sector fell by 0.11%. The investment sector slipped by 0.08%, microfinance dropped by 0.08%, and the others group declined by 0.17%.
Shares of two companies jumped by 10% today. These companies are Swastik Laghubitta and SY Panel. Meanwhile, Swetganga Hydropower gained 8.79%, Om Megashree rose by 4.09%, and Ingwa Hydropower increased by 3.97%.
The top five companies by trading value today were Ngadi Group, Laxmi Sunrise Bank, SBI Bank, CEDB Holdings, and Himalayan Reinsurance.
