Kathmandu district administration office has clarified that there will be no public holiday on Monday. The decision follows the instruction from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Offices to reopen as weather improves

According to the late-night notice issued at 10 p.m., the administration stated that the weather has now improved and the earlier risks have eased. Therefore, all government offices, institutions, and local bodies in Kathmandu will remain open from 10 a.m. on Monday. Officials have been asked to ensure regular attendance and continue public services.

Will the stock market open too?

With this notice, there is now a high chance that the stock market will also open on Monday. Earlier at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Bizshala had reported that the chairman of the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), Santosh Narayan Shrestha, had said the market was unlikely to open. However, the new directive from the district administration has changed the situation, increasing the possibility that NEPSE will resume trading as usual.

The final word

If no further instructions come overnight, Monday will be a regular working day for Kathmandu and for NEPSE investors as well.
