Many factories that had delayed paying their electricity dues for using dedicated and trunkline power are now starting to clear their payments. Himal Iron and Steel has also joined this list and is preparing to pay its pending amount.

According to sources, the company plans to pay the first installment of its dues by Friday. Out of a total of Rs 13.65 crore owed, the company has already informed the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) that it will settle the first installment soon.

During the load-shedding years, the NEA had provided a special electricity supply to major industries through dedicated and trunkline systems to help them continue operations. This facility was available from Magh 2072 to Baisakh 2075.

The NEA has allowed industries to pay their dues in 28 installments. Earlier today, Reliance Spinning Mills paid Rs 2.77 crore as the first installment under the same arrangement.
