Gen z protests have caused a serious impact on nepal’s economy. Business leaders warn that the damage is not just temporary but could affect future growth and investment if strong measures are not taken.
Hem Raj Dhakal, vice president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), shared this concern during a program organized by the economic journalists’ society of nepal. The event focused on the road to economic recovery.
Dhakal said the protests had caused heavy losses in both public and private sectors. He explained that investors have become discouraged and uncertain about the future. He said:
“We are trying to move forward, but there is no guarantee that such destruction will not happen again. The government must ensure security for businesses,”
He also pointed out that nepal’s economic growth had shown good signs in the past, but it could not continue. Businesses have been contributing to social responsibility programs, yet they are struggling to survive in the current situation.
Dhakal emphasized that the government needs to bring new policies and strategies to restore trust and confidence in the economy. He added that the private sector should also move ahead with discipline and responsibility.
According to him, cooperation between the government and the private sector is the only way for Nepal to recover from the losses caused by the gen z protests.
