Prime Minister Sushila Karki is set to expand her cabinet today by adding four new ministers. According to sources from Baluwatar, the names of the new ministers have already been sent to the President’s office, and their swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place later today.

The new ministers and their respective ministries are:

  • Ganpatilal Shrestha – Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation
  • Sudha Gautam – Ministry of Health and Population
  • Khagendra Sunar – Ministry of Labor and Employment
  • Bablu Gupta – Ministry of Youth and Sports

The President’s office is expected to announce the exact time for the oath-taking ceremony shortly. The four ministers have already received approval following the Prime Minister’s recommendation.

Background of the New Ministers

Ganpatilal Shrestha is a heritage activist with a long history of protecting and promoting Nepal’s historical and cultural sites. He has contributed to raising the international profile of Nepali art, culture, and architecture.

Khagendra Sunar is a social activist known for his work advocating Dalit rights. He has campaigned against social discrimination and is expected to focus on labor rights and equal opportunities in his role as Minister of Labor and Employment.

Bablu Gupta, founder of the philanthropic group “100 Group,” has been active in youth engagement. Through leadership programs and sports initiatives, he aims to inspire and empower young people.

Prime Minister Karki expressed confidence that the inclusion of these new faces will enhance both the government’s social representation and its operational momentum.
