Commercial Banks earn 16.59 Billion in two months

In the first two months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, Nepal’s commercial banks saw a small drop in profits. According to Nepal Rastra Bank data, 20 commercial banks earned a combined net profit of NPR 16.5987 billion by the end of Bhadra. This is 6.2% less than the same period last year.

Half of the banks (10) increased their profits, while the other 10 saw declines. Siddhartha Bank, MAB Bank, Nepal Bank, Machhapuchhre Bank, and Laxmi Sunrise Bank showed the biggest gains. Meanwhile, Himalayan Bank, Nepal SBI Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Prabhu Bank, and Nabil Bank experienced notable drops.

Global IME Bank took the top spot with a profit of NPR 1.6282 billion, up 3.97% from last year. Nabil Bank earned NPR 1.3371 billion but fell 20.09% from the previous year. Nepal Investment Mega Bank came third with NPR 1.2644 billion, down 10.51% from last year.

  • Machhapuchhre Bank: NPR 481.9 million

Banks with profit drops

  • Himalayan Bank: down 68.26%
  • Nepal SBI Bank: down 33.59%
  • Agricultural Development Bank: down 33.5%
  • Prabhu Bank: down 25.97%
  • NIC Asia Bank: down 14.26%
  • Standard Chartered: down 12.21%
  • Citizens Bank: down 5.6%

Nepal SBI Bank had the lowest profit at just NPR 354.6 million.
