According to Nepal Rastra Bank’s latest financial report for the month of Shrawan, cash circulation in the market has fallen by 0.70%.
By the end of Shrawan, total cash in circulation stood at Rs 744.82 billion, down from Rs 750.11 billion at the end of Ashad.
Deposits of banks and financial institutions at the central bank also fell sharply. By the end of Shrawan, such deposits were Rs 330.65 billion a drop of 14.92% compared to Rs 388.63 billion in Ashad.

In contrast, the government’s deposits at Nepal Rastra Bank increased significantly. Government deposits rose from Rs 70.83 billion in Ashad to Rs 192 billion in Shrawan.
Foreign currency deposits by banks and financial institutions at the central bank declined as well, from Rs 10.49 billion in Ashad to Rs 9.38 billion in Shrawan.
As of Shrawan, the central bank’s total domestic currency assets stood at Rs 96.97 billion, while total domestic currency liabilities reached Rs 1.954 trillion. Total foreign currency assets were Rs 2.666 trillion, compared to foreign currency liabilities of Rs 51.23 billion.
