Nepal Rastra Bank has decided to lower how much money people can take out from their debit cards each day. Now, you can withdraw only up to Rs 50,000 in a single day and Rs 20,000 per transaction. The monthly limit has also been cut down from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.

Rule to take effect immediately

The central bank has directed all banks and financial institutions to apply this new rule right away. Officials say the move is meant to make online transactions safer and help banks manage cash flow more effectively.

Other cards not affected

This change applies only to debit cards. The limits for prepaid and credit cards will stay the same. Prepaid card users can still spend up to Rs 10,000 per transaction and Rs 20,000 daily, while credit card users will continue under the old limits.
