Nepal stock market,NEPSE Index crossed the 2,600 mark on Thursday. The Nepse index rose by 34.22 points from the previous day, closing at 2,600.38.
Trading volume also saw a significant jump. Yesterday, the total turnover was NPR 5.45 billion, but today it surged to NPR 7.51 billion. This jump was mainly due to Himalayan Bank’s founder shares, which alone traded NPR 1.66 billion.

Out of 249 listed companies, 216 saw their prices rise, 28 fell, and 5 remained unchanged. The hydropower sector recorded the highest growth, up 2.67%.
Other sectors performed as follows:
- Banking: up 0.33%
- Development banks: up 1.23%
- Finance: up 1.60%
- Hotels and tourism: up 0.75%
- Investment: up 1.35%
- Life insurance: up 1.80%
- Manufacturing and processing: up 1.74%
- Microfinance: up 1.60%
- Non-life insurance: up 1.75%
- Others: up 1.06%
- Trading: up 0.88%
Some top gainers included Gurans Laghubitta and Unnati Sahakarya Laghubitta, both up 10%. Super Madi Hydropower rose 9.54%, Ganapati Laghubitta 9.46%, and Peoples Hydropower 9.08%.
On the other hand, Asha Laghubitta saw the biggest drop, down 4.79%, followed by Upakar Laghubitta at 3.96% and Himalayan Power Partner at 3.75%.
The five most actively traded companies today were Himalayan Bank founder shares, Radhi Power, Nepal Reinsurance, Sahas Urja, and Butwal Power Company.
