Nepal Rastra Bank’s new data shows that Nepalis traveling abroad spent about NRs 21.63 arba in the last three months, while foreign tourists visiting Nepal brought in only NRs 19.19 arba. This growing gap means more money is flowing out of the country than coming in through tourism. Economists warn that if this continues, it could affect Nepal’s foreign currency reserves and overall economic balance. They say Nepal must attract higher-spending visitors, improve tourism services and encourage longer stays to close this gap and strengthen the tourism sector.
