Businessman Hemraj Dhakal has been appointed as a director of the Nepal Securities Board. He joins the board as a representative of the private sector, nominated by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce where he serves as vice president.
He replaces Anjan Kumar Shrestha, who previously held the position but resigned for personal reasons. The Chamber of Commerce decided to nominate Dhakal for the vacant role. On Wednesday, he took the oath of office and secrecy, administered by board chairman Santosh Narayan Shrestha.
Who is Hemraj Dhakal?
Dhakal has been active in business for more than four decades. He has also contributed to Nepal’s financial sector for over thirty years.
He is the chairman of Heritage Group of Industries. Under his leadership, the group runs more than a dozen companies, including Heritage Carpet, Heritage Mattress, and Heritage Tea, among others.
