The government has warned people not to donate money to unverified groups claiming to collect funds for the families of those killed or injured during the GenZ protest. Reports suggest that several organizations, both inside and outside the country, have started collecting money under false names.

Official fund already established

The Ministry of Finance issued a notice on Saturday, urging everyone to deposit money only into the government’s official account. The ministry said the government has already set up a special infrastructure fund to support relief, reconstruction, and economic recovery efforts related to the incident.

Focus on transparency

“The government is fully committed to ensuring that no parallel or unclear use of funds takes place,” the ministry stated. It also reminded citizens that misuse of donations could harm the families and communities meant to be helped.

Public appeal for caution

People have been advised to verify the account details before contributing and to stay alert against anyone or any group requesting direct personal transfers or unapproved collections.
