Nepal is preparing for the upcoming House of Representatives by-election, which will be held on Falgun 21. The Election Commission plans to give political parties 15 days for campaigning ahead of the election.
Voter lists can be collected and updated until Kartik 30. Political parties must also complete their registration and get certificates by the same date. New parties that want to take part in the election can register between Mangsir 1 and 10. Only registered parties can nominate candidates for the election.
The election program will be approved and published in the Nepal Gazette on Mangsir 10. Voter list updates will continue from Mangsir 1 to Poush 15. For proportional representation elections, the election officer’s office will be established on Mangsir 15. Voting locations and centers will be announced in the Gazette by Poush 15, and closed lists for proportional elections will be submitted on Poush 18 and 19.
The main election officer’s office will be set up on Magh 2, 2082. Joint election centers and police communication units will operate from Magh 2 to Falgun 30. Election campaigning will run from Falgun 4 to 18. Election materials will be sent to districts by Falgun 12, and campaigning will be banned from midnight on Falgun 18.
Voting will take place on Falgun 21, from 7 am to 5 pm. The Election Commission may make changes to the schedule if needed.
