Shivacharan Rana from Shuklaphanta Municipality 12 in Kanchanpur used to work as a laborer in India to support his family. Life was tough, and he faced many hardships. Tired of the struggle, he decided to return home and start something of his own in Nepal.

Today, the same man who once worked in India now runs his own dairy business in his village. His journey from daily wages to becoming an entrepreneur was full of effort, patience, and hard work.

Rana began his milk business back in 2011 (2068 BS) with just 2 litres of milk. At first, he used to collect and sell milk by riding his bicycle around the village. Slowly, his business started growing. Now, he collects around 1,500 litres of milk every day and sells it in nearby markets like Jhalari, Attariya, and Kailali.

“I went through many struggles while working in India,” Rana shared. “After returning home, I started selling milk on a bicycle. With time, I saved some money and opened my own dairy.”

To manage his growing business, he now employs six workers who earn between Rs 20,000 and Rs 26,000 per month.

Rana’s success has brought him both happiness and stability. From his dairy business, he now earns around Rs 13 lakh a year in profit after expenses. Over time, he has built assets worth nearly Rs 90 lakh. “I’m very happy with what I’ve achieved,” he said. “My son has also joined me in running this business.”

At a time when many young Nepalis are going abroad in search of jobs, Rana’s story stands as a powerful reminder that success is possible right here at home. His dedication and hard work have made him a respected figure in his community, a true example of how determination can turn a small start into a big achievement.
