The Ministry of Finance has changed its representative at the Nepal Securities Board. Mahesh Baral, who was previously representing the ministry, has been called back. The ministry has now appointed Senior Secretary Uttar Khatri as the new member of the board.
After Rameshwor Khanal became the new finance minister, Baral was given a new role as the head of the Public Financial Management Training Center. However, he had been facing accusations of helping middlemen in some decisions. Because of these allegations, he was also removed from his position at the Securities Board.
The Nepal Securities Board is the main regulator of the country’s capital market. By law, it must have one representative from the Ministry of Finance on its board.
Although Khatri has been appointed as the new representative, he has not yet attended any meetings of the board.
