Sharad Ojha was appointed as the chairman of the Nepal insurance authority just four months ago. The government recently dismissed him, claiming his performance was weak. However, Ojha challenged the decision by filing a case in the supreme court.
The supreme court has now ordered that Ojha should not be removed from his position for the time being. Justice Sharanga Subedi issued a short-term interim order on Monday.
The court instructed the government not to enforce its dismissal decision immediately and to halt the process of appointing a new chairman. Both sides have been called for a discussion on whether the interim order should continue.
Before the court’s intervention, 14 people had already applied for the chairman’s post at the authority.
