Nepal Rastra Bank will not distribute brand-new currency notes for Dashain this year. Instead, it will provide only clean and crisp notes.

The bank’s currency management department has announced that the exchange of crisp notes will be available from Bhadra 29 to Ashoj 10.

Where can you get crisp notes?

You can swap for crisp notes at:

  • Every branch of licensed Category A, B, and C banks and financial institutions
  • NRB’s Thapathali office
  • All seven provincial offices (Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birgunj, Pokhara, Siddharthanagar, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi)

Each person will be allowed to exchange up to Rs 18,500 in crisp notes. District-level offices operating under the NRB’s note fund will also provide this service to the public.

Why no new notes this time?

The bank said there are already enough usable notes in the market, so it has decided to distribute only crisp notes instead of printing new ones.
