Sanima Bank Limited has been appointed as the agent bank in Nepal by the Export-Import Bank of China (CEXIM) for two major hydropower projects: Manang Marshyangdi (135 MW)–1 and Langtang Bhotekoshi (120 MW)–1.

The agreement was signed at a special event at CEXIM Bank’s Sichuan branch. Hemraj Sanjyal, chief deposit officer of Sanima Bank, signed the deal on behalf of the bank, while Wu Yanhui, vice president of CEXIM, signed for the Chinese bank.

The ceremony was attended by Sanima Bank’s CEO Nischal Raj Pandey, CEXIM Sichuan branch president Chen Sengrong, and Liao Bin, chairman of SGIC International.

CEO Nischal Raj Pandey expressed his gratitude for being chosen as the agent bank. He said this partnership will help Sanima Bank expand its international trade relations. It will also support business growth in hydropower, trade, and infrastructure sectors.

Representatives from CEXIM and the main investors promised to help complete the projects on time. Sanima Bank’s role will be important to make sure the projects succeed.

By handling the largest volume of Chinese currency transactions in Nepal so far, Sanima Bank is boosting its reputation both nationally and internationally. The experience may open doors for similar collaborations in other areas and support Nepal’s long-term development.
