The NEPSE Index rose by 12.13 points on July 28, closing at 2,976.33, reflecting a 0.40% increase from the previous day. This uptick came despite a notable drop in total turnover and trading volume.
The day’s trading saw the NEPSE Index open at 2,967.51, hit a high of 2,976.92, and dip as low as 2,917.51 before closing at 2,976.33. Total turnover stood at Rs 19.36 billion, down by Rs 7.21 billion or 27.15% from the previous session.
In terms of volume, a total of 4.41 crore shares were traded, marking a 24.77% decline. The number of transactions also fell by 16.17%, amounting to 1.70 lakh trades.
The Sensitive Index, which tracks Class A companies, closed at 515.74 after gaining 1.86 points (0.36%). Similarly, the Float Index increased by 0.77 points to 204.70, and the Sensitive Float Index added 0.64 points, ending the day at 176.47.
Among the 250 listed stocks, 94 advanced, 156 declined, and none remained unchanged.
Despite a drop in overall market activity, the upward movement in the NEPSE Index brings cautious optimism among investors.
