The NEPSE Index fell sharply on August 31, closing at 2,749.83 points, down 31.17 points (1.12%) from the previous day.
The market turnover was Rs. 6.06 billion, a drop of 25.12%, with 14.80 million shares traded. Only 21 stocks gained, while 228 declined and 1 remained unchanged, showing overall market weakness.
Among sub-indices, the Sensitive Index closed at 472.64 points (down 1.05%), the Float Index at 187.91 points (down 1.21%), and the Sensitive Float Index at 161.55 points (down 1.12%).
Although the number of transactions increased by 23.98%, turnover and volume declined, signaling cautious investor sentiment. The index is now near a key support level of 2,740 points.
