The NEPSE Index closed significantly lower on August 12, ending the day at 2,797.74, down 24.71 points or 0.87%. The market witnessed a notable drop in both turnover and trading activity, reflecting a weak investor sentiment.

Total turnover stood at Rs 6.91 billion, down by over Rs 3.29 billion from the previous session, marking a 32.23% decline. Traded shares also fell by 29.57% to 17.67 million, while the total number of transactions dropped by 20.6% to 78,200.

The Sensitive Index, which tracks major companies, fell 3.87 points to close at 481.54. Similarly, the Float Index declined by 1.75 points to 191.78, and the Sensitive Float Index dropped by 1.28 points to 164.59.

Market breadth remained weak, with only 24 stocks advancing, while 225 declined and 1 remained unchanged.

Overall, the day was marked by broad-based selling pressure, reduced liquidity, and declining investor participation, signaling a cautious mood in the NEPSE Index.
