The NEPSE Index closed lower on Wednesday, August 21, as the market witnessed a decline of 9.22 points, settling at 2,757.97, down by 0.33% compared to the previous trading day.
According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, the market recorded a total turnover of Rs. 5.02 billion, with 16,855,906 shares traded. Among the listed companies, 53 advanced, 197 declined, and none remained unchanged, indicating a broadly negative market sentiment.
The Sensitive Index, which tracks Class ‘A’ companies, ended at 474.26 points, down by 0.69 points (-0.14%). Similarly, the Float Index slipped 0.5 points (-0.26%) to close at 189.01 points, while the Sensitive Float Index edged down 0.21 points (-0.13%), finishing at 162.22 points.
Market statistics showed that while turnover value fell by 3.47%, overall trading volume increased by 10.41%, reflecting higher activity despite the price decline.
The NEPSE Index has seen fluctuations in recent sessions, and today’s movement highlights cautious investor participation as selling pressure outweighed buying momentum.
