Nepal Rastra Bank is introducing a new 100 rupee note starting today, Mangsir 11. The note comes with a new design and upgraded security features, but its size, paper, and main color remain the same.
The notes will have serial numbers from K20 000001 to G40 999999. Each note carries a promise: “If you demand payment, Nepal Rastra Bank will pay 100 rupees immediately, guaranteed by the Government of Nepal.”
On the front, the note features Mount Everest on the left, a Rhododendron watermark on the right, and an updated map of Nepal in the center. The map update was approved by the cabinet led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Baisakh 20, 2081. The Ministry of Finance recommended including the updated map on the new 100 rupee note.

Next to the Ashoka Pillar, the note says in English: “Lumbini, the Birth Place of Lord Buddha.” For visually impaired people, it includes a black raised dot that can be felt by touch. On the left side, an oval frame contains a silver metallic image of Maya Devi. The note also includes a security thread, 2 mm wide, that looks red when viewed straight and green when tilted. The note will carry the signature of the current governor, Mahaprasad Adhikari, and the year “2081 BS” at the bottom.

The back of the note has “Nepal Rastra Bank” written in English at the top. The center shows an image of a one-horned rhinoceros mother and baby. The bottom edge has “Rupees Hundred” and the series year “2024 AD” in English.
Previously, the 2019 series of 100-rupee notes with serial numbers O18 000001 to K37 999999 was planned to be circulated from Ashwin 7, 2076. In practice, only notes from O18 000001 to K19 034500 were circulated. The new series will gradually be available at banks and financial institutions across the country, according to Nepal Rastra Bank.
