Fonepay, Nepal’s leading digital payment network, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Social Security Fund (SSF) to make it easier for Nepali migrant workers to pay their SSF contributions from abroad.

Thousands of Nepali workers live and work in foreign countries, sending money home to support their families. Many of them are enrolled in Nepal’s Social Security Fund, which provides benefits like pensions, medical care, and insurance. However, until now, paying SSF contributions from outside Nepal was often difficult and time-consuming.

With this new agreement, migrant workers can now pay their SSF contributions digitally using mobile banking apps that are connected to the Fonepay network. This allows them to send payments quickly and safely—no matter where they are in the world.

How It Works?

Fonepay works with most major banks and financial institutions in Nepal. When workers use a mobile banking app supported by Fonepay, they will now see an option to make SSF payments directly from their bank account. The process is simple and can be done in just a few steps through their phone.

This partnership is a big step forward in improving digital services for Nepali migrant workers. It makes the payment process:

  • Faster – No need to visit offices or wait in line.
  • Convenient – Payments can be made anytime, from anywhere in the world.
  • Secure – Transactions are processed safely through trusted banking apps.

Representatives from both Fonepay and the Social Security Fund have said that this collaboration is a part of their mission to make government services more accessible through digital technology. They believe it will improve financial inclusion and ensure that more workers can enjoy the benefits offered by the SSF.
