Insurance companies in Nepal have disbursed Rs 4.87 billion in claim settlements after the devastating floods and landslides that occurred last Ashoj. According to Nepal Insurance Authority data till Jestha 28, a total of 3,056 claims have been settled, including advance payments.

Despite 8 months passing since the disaster, many companies have delayed settlements, citing incomplete data from insured clients and late surveyor reports. Still, 696 claims remain unpaid, worth Rs 6.69 billion.

  • Siddhartha Premier Insurance: Rs 1.67 billion for 428 claims
  • Shikhar Insurance: Rs 562.5 million for 458 claims
  • Sagarmatha Lumbini: Rs 577.3 million for 357 claims
  • Neco Insurance: Rs 482.2 million for 270 claims
  • United Ajod Insurance: Rs 422.6 million for 235 claims
  • Himalayan Everest Insurance: Rs 417.1 million for 198 claims
  • NLG Insurance: Rs 314.2 million for 167 claims

Micro Insurers:

  • Star Micro: Rs 2.2 million
  • Protective Micro: Rs 200,000
  • Nepal Micro: Rs 500,000
  • Trust Micro: Rs 500,000

Claim Breakdown by Sector:

  • Property Insurance: Rs 3.44 billion
  • Engineering: Rs 73 million
  • Private Motor: Rs 372.2 million
  • Public Motor: Rs 282.7 million
  • Marine: Rs 1.78 million
  • Livestock: Rs 37.1 million
  • Crop Insurance: Rs 10.5 million

The Nepal Insurance Authority has urged all companies to settle claims quickly and help restore public trust in insurance.
