The Nepal Oil Corporation has increased the prices of petrol and diesel. The decision came after a board meeting on Saturday and took effect from midnight.

Diesel and kerosene went up by three rupees per litre, while petrol increased by two rupees per litre.

New prices by region

Diesel and kerosene prices now vary by depot:

  • First class depots: 144.50 per litre
  • Second class depots: 146 per litre
  • Third class depots: 147 per litre

Petrol prices are set at:

  • First class depots: 158.50 per litre
  • Second class depots: 160 per litre
  • Third class depots: 161 per litre

First class depots include Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalwari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, and Birgunj. Second class depots are in Surkhet and Dang. Third class depots cover Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal.

Reason for the hike

The increase follows new purchase prices from Indian Oil Corporation. Petrol went up by 2.54 rupees per litre, and diesel by 6.53 rupees. Nepal Oil Corporation adjusted local prices accordingly.
