The Armed Police Force’s Chhinnamasta Unit in Nepal has made a major crackdown on illegal trade, seizing goods worth nearly Rs 26 crore in just three and a half months. During this time, they arrested 30 people involved in smuggling.
Under the command of DIG Krishna Dhakal, units across Province 2 conducted operations from mid-July to late November. The Chhinnamasta Unit recovered items valued at more than Rs 25.87 crore during this period.
Separate operations in districts including Saptari, Siraha, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara, and Parsa led to large seizures of smuggled goods.
In Parsa alone, Armed Police Unit No. 13 seized illegal items worth Rs 9.98 crore. Similarly, Unit No. 11 in Rautahat recovered items worth Rs 2.94 crore, said SP Ramhari Adhikari.
The unit also rescued 21 women in anti-human trafficking operations and arrested 19 men involved in the crimes. They also seized one illegal firearm.
In drug control operations, police confiscated over 28 quintals of marijuana, 30 kg of hashish, brown sugar, and other banned drugs, arresting 17 people in total. Additionally, more than Rs 52 lakh in Nepalese currency and Rs 7 lakh in Indian currency, with unclear sources, were recovered.
The Chhinnamasta Unit says these operations are part of their ongoing efforts to crack down on smuggling, human trafficking, and illegal drugs in the region.
