Kathmandu mayor Balen Shah has decided to stop the use of imported flowers during the Tihar festival. The city office says this move aims to promote Nepali-grown flowers instead of depending on those brought from other countries.

Metropolitan Police Chief Rajunath Pandey shared that the decision encourages local flower producers and supports Nepal’s economy. The city hopes this will inspire people to celebrate with homegrown marigolds and other native flowers this festive season.
