The NEPSE Index recorded a positive close on August 18, finishing at 2,772.98 points, up by 11.75 points or 0.42% compared to the previous trading day.
On Monday, the NEPSE Index opened at 2,760.67 and reached a high of 2,779.68 before settling at 2,772.98. The day’s low stood at 2,755.88.
Despite the gain in the NEPSE Index, market activity slowed down. The total turnover stood at Rs. 6.17 billion, which is a decline of 20.11% compared to the previous session. Similarly, the traded volume dropped by 25.76%, with 15.22 million shares changing hands across 67.9K transactions, down by 21.59%.
Other sub-indices also ended higher. The Sensitive Index climbed 2.12 points (0.44%) to close at 475.80, while the Float Index increased by 0.80 points (0.42%) to 189.94. Likewise, the Sensitive Float Index rose 0.76 points (0.46%) to settle at 162.79.
In market breadth, 175 companies advanced, while 74 declined, and none remained unchanged.
Overall, the NEPSE Index closed in the green, supported by broad-based buying, though trading volume and turnover showed a sharp decline.
