Nepse falls 5 points despite higher trading volume today

After gaining 62 points the previous day, Nepal’s stock market saw a small fall of 5 points on Wednesday. With this drop, the NEPSE index settled at 2,566 points.

During the trading session, NEPSE briefly crossed the 2,600 mark at 11:46 AM and 12:21 PM, but it couldn’t stay above that level. Even though the index fell, the trading amount increased. The total turnover reached Rs 5.45 billion, up from Rs 4.57 billion on the previous day.

A total of 85 companies saw their share prices rise, while 159 declined and 6 remained unchanged. Among the sectors, hotel and tourism gained 2.15%, trading rose by 2.00%, and hydropower edged up by 0.01%.

However, the “others” group fell by 1.20%. The banking sector dropped by 0.34%, development banks by 0.91%, finance by 0.77%, investment by 0.17%, life insurance by 0.64%, manufacturing and processing by 0.28%, and non-life insurance by 0.19%.

Two companies, Upakar Laghubitta and Khanikhola Hydropower, saw their stock prices surge by 10%. Manushi Laghubitta rose by 9.91%, Himalayan Power Partner by 8.74%, and Asha Laghubitta by 7.68%.

Meanwhile, Panchakanya Mai Hydropower’s stock dropped by 3.69%, and Synergy Power fell by 3.21%.

The top five most traded companies of the day were Union Hydropower, NRN Infrastructure, Butwal Power, Radhi Hydropower, and Himalayan Reinsurance.
