Three industries that used dedicated and trunkline electricity have paid their first installment of pending dues, restoring power supply.
Valwari Automatic Factory, SR Foods, and SR Steel Industries made the first payments, which are part of a total amount divided into 28 installments. SR Foods paid NPR 1.48 crore, Valwari Automatic Factory NPR 30 lakh, and SR Steel Industries NPR 16 lakh. These dues cover electricity used between February 2016 (Magh 2072) and April 2018 (Baisakh 2075).
Earlier, last Monday, Panchakanya Plastic, Panchakanya Steel, Siddharth Petplant, and Shyam Plastic had also cleared their first installment, resuming electricity supply.
Government talks helped resolve the issue
On November 3, Prime Minister Sushila Karki and senior officials held a high-level discussion with Nepal Industry Commerce Federation President Chandra Prasad Dhakal. A compromise was suggested for the fees related to dedicated feeders and trunkline usage.
Industries that submit the disputed amount as a deposit rather than as a full installment can have their electricity reconnected immediately. After paying the deposit, they can request a review and pursue legal remedies if needed. Industries can also state their disagreement when submitting the deposit.
This step is expected to smooth relations between the industries and the Nepal Electricity Authority while ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
